Both Casemiro and Fernandes were absent from team training on Thursday, as they returned from international duty. Amad and Matheus Cunha were also given extra time off, though they were at Carrington undergoing an individual regime.
Ugarte was with the senior group, however, and The Sun claim that he is under consideration for a surprise start against Liverpool as a result.
The Uruguay international was not called up by Marcelo Bielsa for what was an experimental squad against the Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan, meaning he was able to put in extra work on the training pitch with Amorim in Manchester.
Meanwhile, Casemiro played every minute of Brazil’s two away matches against Japan and South Korea before flying back to England.
Ugarte was also given a rare start after the September international break, where United were thumped 3-0 by local rivals Manchester City. He lasted 80 minutes at the Etihad before Casemiro was brought on.
The 24-year-old’s only other starts this season were losses away to Brentford and Grimsby Town.
Last month, Ugarte admitted that he has not started the season in the way he had hoped, but was determined to get back on track.
“We haven’t started the season very well,” he told El Observador. “My level wasn’t the best either, we have to be realistic and honest.
“But I’m very confident, I have a very good relationship with the coach. I work well and I’m very excited and eager to earn a starting spot.”
During pre-season, Amorim accepted that he has a role to play in helping Ugarte find his feet in Manchester.
“The first thing is adaptation to a new team, a new country,” Amorim explained. “Sometimes, you just look inside of the pitch but, off the pitch, you can have some trouble sometimes.
“He is more adapted and then he needs more confidence, it’s also my job. If you look last year, take Bruno [Fernandes], who is always confident, and look at the team and the performance of the team if he doesn’t perform well.
“We can see today, when they are confident in their play, it seems like everyone can touch the ball and have confidence. it is more a team thing than individual.”
