Ruben Amorim will be pleased with his summer transfer business so far. Manchester United have signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined £133.5million from Wolves and Brentford, respectively. On Friday, the Red Devils boss confirmed a Premier League-proven recruitment strategy in a bid for instant impact.
United are expected to be active again before the transfer market shuts its doors, despite their desperate need for player sales to generate further funds. A goalkeeper, midfielder, and striker are reportedly on the agenda, and Amorim’s signings in all three positions could continue the trend.
Express Sport looks at three players who have a chance of being the next recruits for the Portuguese head coach’s rebuild.
Emi Martinez
Emi Martinez is clearly of interest to United, with the club already reportedly having a loan approached turned down by Aston Villa.
Whether the Old Trafford giants will make a concrete play for a permanent move remains to be seen, given the 33-year-old’s age profile and likely high price.
Amorim could opt for a younger option who can initially deputise Andre Onana, such as Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens.
But Martinez represents an experienced head who is used to playing on the biggest stage for club and country.

Douglas Luiz
Douglas Luiz is widely expected to leave Juventus this summer after boycotting the start of pre-season.
The former Villa midfielder only played a bit-part role in Turin last season, sparking his desire to continue his career elsewhere.
United need a more defensive midfielder to play alongside Bruno Fernandes, and the 27-year-old Brazilian could fit the bill.
There could be scope to seal an initial loan with an option or obligation to buy next summer, given Luiz’s strong desire to leave.

Ollie Watkins
Only now has it become noticeable that there is a certain Claret and Blue flavouring to these targets, but we will roll with it…
Watkins seems to be the most concrete target of the three. United have reportedly held initial talks with Villa over a potential transfer.
The Villa Park club insist he is not for sale, slapping a hefty £60m price tag on the 29-year-old striker’s head.
But should Amorim wish to push for a completely new-look front line made up of established Premier League attackers, Watkins appears to be his No. 1 target.
