Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has already pointed towards switching Amad into a permanent right-wing-back amid an attacking overhaul this summer. The Red Devils are on course to enter next season with a new-look front three, which could move Amad and club captain Bruno Fernandes elsewhere in the team.
United started their summer spending by signing Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5million deal. Bryan Mbeumo should follow after Brentford received an improved offer worth over £60m on Monday, having rejected an initial bid of £45m plus £10m in add-ons.
Amorim reportedly also wants to add a starting striker to his ranks before the summer deadline after Rasmus Hojlund failed to convince him last season.
Amid the excitement at the prospect of desperately needed attacking upgrades, United supporters have understandably queried where it leaves Amad.
The 22-year-old is coming off the back of a breakout campaign in which he plundered 11 goals and 10 assists in 43 appearances.
His impressive exploits earned a new long-term contract at the start of 2025, and he is primed to play a pivotal role in Amorim’s rebuild.
Shortly before Amad committed his future to Old Trafford, Amorim hailed the Ivorian starlet for his ability to make an impact at right-wing-back as well as in attack.
“Because of his left foot. Sometimes, in that position, the way he receives the ball, if you are right-footed, sometimes you don’t have the space to come inside,” the Portuguese boss said in December.
“But we have, for example, [Noussair] Mazraoui and [Diogo] Dalot can go inside because they are fast and strong with the ball. But we chose Amad to have one against one outside.
“And that is very important to break some pressures, and especially high pressures. He has that ability, and then, in that position, you need to have a good physicality.
“When you say good physicality, it’s not the size, obviously, but he can run, and that is a key point in that position.
“So you try to choose players that you can put in that position, and then the technical characteristics, and that is perfect for him.”
Fernandes also looks set for a permanent residency in Amorim’s midfield double pivot, a role that he performed regularly last season.
The Portuguese maestro will likely also feature in his preferred attacking areas, though, considering Cunha or Mbeumo can operate as the striker.
