Man sues Dunkin' Donuts after exploding toilet left him covered in faeces

A man is suing Dunkin’ Donuts after one of its toilets exploded on him last year, leaving him with “severe and long term injuries.”

Paul Kerouac says he walked into a Dunkin’ in Winter Park, Florida, a suburb of Orlando, a year ago.

He was in the bathroom when the toilet exploded and smothered him in feces, urine and debris, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Orlando state court.

He is seeking 100,000 in damages.

It is unclear why the explosion happened or what Kerouac was doing in the bathroom.

He allegedly informed the staff about the explosion. One of them said they were aware of the “problem with the toilet” because there had been other incidents.

Kerouac says he suffered “bodily injury” and has had to seek counselling since the incident.

Dunkin’, which is based in Canton, Massachusetts, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Last week, a Dunkin’ Donuts customer logged onto TikTok to share her disappointment with her latest order, accusing the fast food giant of “scamming.”

TikToker Nikki Bright (@ladyrariety) shared her receipt as evidence, alleging that the food chain had deceived her in the items she had purchased.

She informed her followers in a video to check their Dunkin’ receipts after a recent visit to a Michigan City Dunkin’ Donuts.

The online user explained: “I bought four sandwiches at three dollars. This receipt says 4×3 is 21 dollars. I don’t know about y’all but the last time I did math, 4×3 was 12.

“And then, I bought four donuts at a dollar each. They got it at $6.76. How that work?”
