A parking row has left a resident fuming after their neighbour persistently uses their private driveway without permission.
Despite the parking space being part of their lease agreement, the neighbour constantly finds excuses to occupy the designated spot. The ongoing issue has left an anonymous homeowner at their wit’s end, desperately seeking advice on how to resolve the dispute.
Taking to Reddit, the exasperated resident detailed their parking woes and outlined their next course of action. Their post struck a chord with numerous other homeowners who had faced similar predicaments.
Fellow users have since offered their suggestions on how the irate resident might tackle their troublesome neighbour.
The frustrated homeowner penned: “So I just got home from a 12-hour shift, completely exhausted, and what do I see? My neighbour’s beat-up sedan, parked smack dab in the middle of my driveway. Again.
“This is the third time this week, and I’m losing my mind. I live in a townhouse complex, so parking is already a nightmare. I bought this place specifically because it came with a private driveway.
“I’ve talked to them multiple times, and it’s always the same BS excuse, ‘oh, just for a minute, I’m waiting for a delivery, or my sister is visiting and she needs a spot.’ I get it, parking s**ks, but that’s not my problem.”
This marks the third occasion this has occurred, with a courteous initial encounter escalating to a crumpled note left on the saloon’s windscreen.
The third incident appeared to be the final straw for the resident, who clarified it wasn’t merely anger about the parking space but how much of the drive was obstructed.
They continued: “I need to get inside, but their car is literally blocking me from even getting to my front door without walking through the grass.” Now they’re ready to take decisive measures.
They shared: “I’ve tried being the nice, understanding neighbour, but it’s gotten me nowhere. Part of me wants to just call a tow truck, but I don’t want to escalate things. What else am I supposed to do? What would you guys do in my situation? I’m so over this.”
One individual recommended: “Park behind them, walk the dog, eat, go to bed. Let him figure it out in the morning. If you’re not feeling tired, call the tow truck.”
Another contributed: “Yep, this is the move. Park behind them and go about your night let them sweat it out in the morning. If they still don’t get it, tow truck time.”
A third person shared: “You have two options. The first is going over to your neighbours and demand them to move it ASAP or it will be towed. And, threaten them with if ever done again, it will be towed.
“The second option is calling a tow truck and have it towed. You are not escalating anything, they are by being extremely disrespectful ON PURPOSE. They have zero respect for you, and are taunting you by doing this over and over again. You didn’t want this, but they have forced you to deal with it.”
