A man who failed to appear in court has responded to a police appeal for information about his whereabouts, by commenting on the force’s own Facebook post. Avon and Somerset Police are trying to trace 38-year-old Scott Farmer, who is wanted on a warrant after being charged with drug driving.
In a post shared on social media, the force said: “We’re appealing for the public’s help to find 38-year-old Farmer who is wanted on a warrant after failing to attend court for a drug drive offence. He is described as white, of slim build, around 6ft 3ins tall, with short brown hair and has tattoos on his right arm. He has links across the Taunton area.”
The appeal added: “If you know where Farmer is, do not approach him but call 999 quoting reference 5225198126, or call 101 with any other information.”
But the first comment on the post appeared to come from the wanted man himself.
He wrote: “Do not approach? LOL. Is that because I’m a dangerous man or is that in case I manage to encourage someone else to drive after getting high the previous night?
“I’ll hand myself in tomorrow morning. Absolutely ridiculous.”
His response quickly drew comments from others online.
One person replied: “Go in custody about 3am so ya ain’t waiting all day and night for court.”
Another added: “At least you won’t get as much punishment in court as a Facebook or X post.”
Despite the humorous comments online, police are still urging anyone with information to call 999 immediately and not to approach the wanted man.
