After living in a property for a few years, it’s reasonable to assume you know almost everything there is to know about the building.
But one man got the shock of his life after uncovering a “network of tunnels and rooms” under his house, making him question everything he thought he knew about his property.
In a Reddit post, he shared images of the underground tunnel system and creepy rooms they opened out into – saying: “There are many stained blankets, with perhaps blood. The tunnels just keep going, maybe five rooms? Some rooms have power, others with flowing water.”
After spending some time wandering around down there, he shared how it became hard to breathe due to the mould and stagnant water that’s been collecting over the years.
He added: “There’s so much mould. I filmed a DJ set down there for an hour and I feel like my lungs have never been the same. If I’m patient zero for the next plague let it be known I’m sorry.”
Sharing a warning, one user said: “Don’t watch Barbarian.” Another user added: “It was nice knowing you.”
A third user said: “This is straight out of Barbarian.” One more user added: “Congrats. You now have your very own torture dungeon.”
In the 2022 movie Barbarian, a young woman comes to learn she is sharing the rental home she booked with a stranger – and in a state of fear, she ends up locked inside basement before stumbling across hidden corridors, leading to a creepy room.
With Halloween coming up, one user jokingly suggested: “Haunted house, my friend. Make a Haunted House down there. Charge $20 a head. Open for two months then don’t work the rest of the year. That’s the dream.”
While another said: “Brother, you need to totally clean that place up and turn it into a nice bar or hangout spot. I could totally see a bar with some couches in this space.
“Although, that mould may not be the best air freshener for guests, but that’s just my opinion.”
However, as the room are “thick with dirt and wet”, he doesn’t think he’ll do anything with the extra space as it would cost too much money to transform it into anything worthwhile.
One more user said: “Neat. Looks like you found the old coal room. Some care has gone into this room as noted on the last picture.
“There is lighting, the ceiling has be reinforced. I can also tell that your home used to have hydronic heating with floor mounted rids but has since been converted to another form of heat (forced air heat pump or something simliar?).
“The last picture shows an insulation wrap on the piping which does not look fiberglass. It’s hard to tell what material it is.
“It does not look like asbestos to me since it more of a clothe type wrap but caution should still be exercised around it.”
