A fight broke out between two minibus drivers at a busy airport in Spain, according to reports. The incident reportedly happened at arrivals in Palma Airport, on the island of Majorca, on Saturday morning.

In footage of the incident, shocked holidaymakers can be seen watching on as the two men get into a physical altercation. A man in shorts and a t-shirt can be seen pulling one of the drivers away in the video. The scrap allegedly started when one of the drivers began arguing with the other over a group of passengers needing a transfer.

The footage was shared in an article by the Majorca Daily Bulletin which reports that a taxi driver, who saw the incident, described the two men involved in the fight as “pirate” drivers.

“They pick up customers inside the airport, but they should not,” the taxi driver reportedly said.

Security guards intervened and National Police officers took the two men’s details, according to the Majorca Daily Bulletin. It is said neither man involved in the incident suffered serious injuries.

The English-language newspaper reports there have been tensions between minibus operators and licensed drivers for years and fights occasionally occur — however, it said fights between two minibus drivers is unusual.

Palma is the capital of Spain’s Balearic Islands, made up of Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, which are popular with tourists.

Majorca is the biggest island and visited by 2.3 million Britons every year.

There have been several protests on Majorca against what demonstrators say is overtourism.

Earlier this month, thousands rallied in Palma as part of the first coordinated effort by activists concerned by the effects of overtourism in southern Europe, with demonstrations also held in mainland Spain, Italy and Portugal.

In Palma, protestors held placards that included messages – many of which were written in English – such as “tourists go home” and “Mallorca is not your cash cow”.

Campaigners have blamed overtourism for issues including soaring rent prices.
