Three young teens will appear in youth court today after being charged with stabbing a 14-year-old “beautiful soul” schoolboy to death on Sunday afternoon. Ibrahima Seck was stabbed outside the Fairway Inn, in New Moston, Greater Manchester, around 5pm before running to nearby Nevin Road, where he pleaded with neighbours: “I don’t want to die”.
The hard-working young student, who locals claim may have been knifed in a row over a bike, was rushed to hospital but tragically died. A bicycle could be seen underneath one a police forensic tent. Now Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have this morning revealed two 14-year-old boys and a 16-year-old lad, who cannot be named due to their age, have been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.
They have been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court on later on Wednesday.
GMP said a 37-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Platten, of the Major Incident Team, said: “The last 48 hours has seen an extensive amount of police work, which has seen multiple officers working to help get the answers Ibrahima’s family deserve.
“Now that we have secured three charges, a new level of proceedings is active, and we will continue to work on our investigation as this progresses.
“Ibrahima’s family remain at the forefront of our minds and we will be remaining in close contact with them throughout the process.”
A family statement said: “Ibrahima was a well-liked young boy. He was funny, caring, and hardworking. He was our best friend, and he looked after me.
“He was so smiley and always made everybody laugh. He was a good boy. The killers have killed two people- me and my son. Why would anyone do this to him? He does nothing wrong. My family want justice.”
On Monday morning his loved-ones, including both his parents, arrived at the scene of the stabbing outside the pub to lay flowers, taping a photograph of their boy to a post and then embracing each other in grief.
A sign also placed at the scene read: “Things need to change. Knives down, gloves up. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this horrific time. There are good people in this city! We pray for your son.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Ibrahima’s family by Dawn Frimpong, who described Ibrahima as a ‘beautiful soul’.
She wrote: “I had the honour of working with this young man, in a school, where he was very well loved.
“He was a beautiful soul who had the most infectious smile and you couldn’t help but laugh with him. He will be missed by so many.
“I am attempting to raise as much money as possible for Ibrahima’s family so they are not worrying about financial burden at this very difficult time.
“We must stand together as communities in times like this and offer support no matter how big or small. Any contribution would be very greatly received.”
One of Ibrahima’s teachers at Manchester Community Primary Academy, a Miss Whittaker, said of him: “Ibrahima was the most beautiful boy.
“He touched my soul and he had such a beautiful heart. I’m devastated beyond words.”
One shocked resident, who asked not to be named, said: “He just came through the door and said ‘I’ve been stabbed’. We sat him down on a chair and phoned an ambulance. He just kept saying ‘I don’t want to die’.”
The neighbour said bystanders performed CPR on the boy until the police arrived and secured the area. The victim’s family is currently receiving support from specialist officers.
A close neighbour of Ibrahima’s, who did not want to be named, said he was the youngest of three siblings.
She added: “He was so young, it’s so very, very sad. I cannot understand what this country is coming to.”
Another tribute left at the scene read: “From one mother to another, I know there are no words that can ever ease your pain.
“But I pray God gives you the strength to face each new day. Please know that as a community we hold your family in our hearts.”
Officers are still looking for information, doorbell or dashcam footage, or eye-witness accounts from anyone who was in the area at the time, quoting log 2250 of 08/06/2025.
