German police are set to begin fresh searches in Portugal on Tuesday as part of their ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
Madeleine was just three years old when she vanished in 2007 from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz while her parents dined nearby.
The latest search will focus on trenches near the McCanns’ former holiday accommodation and involve radar technology capable of detecting buried objects, according to the Sun. About 30 German officers, including forensic specialists, are expected to be involved, with Portuguese police providing on-the-ground support.
Speculation is rising that the searches have been triggered by significant new information, although nothing official has been confirmed yet.
