All flights have been temporarily suspended at a major airport in the UK. Travellers at Luton Airport faced disruption on Friday afternoon amid reports of the air traffic control tower being evacuated.

Flight traffic data show several aircraft holding around Luton Airport as a result of the emergency, believed to be linked to a fire alarm. One X user claiming to have been caught up in the disruption took to social media to say: “Sitting on a plane at Luton airport waiting to go to Belfast. Apparently though air traffic control tower has been evacuated so we’re not going anywhere. No idea what’s going on.”
