Luke Littler joined the 2025 Premier League nine-darter party with a stunning maximum checkout on night seven in Cardiff. The Nuke romped to his third nightly win of the year so far on an evening where his world-class ability once again shone through.
Littler kicked the night off with a 6-3 victory over Nathan Aspinall, before leaving Rob Cross in his wake by virtue of a 6-2 semi-final triumph. It set up a blockbuster clash with Michael van Gerwen in the final, where Littler, despite the Green Machine’s best efforts, secured a stunning 6-4 win.
But it was in the fourth leg of the match where Littler left jaws on the floor and pints flying in the Cardiff International Arena, when he fired home nine perfect darts to send the place into raptures. It’s the third nine-darter of this year’s competition, with Luke Humphries and Cross having hit one on the same night in Brighton.
However, perhaps more pertinently, it’s a move that is going to cost the Premier League’s sponsor, BetMGM, a whopping £30,000.
Speaking to Sky Sports afterwards, he said: “I have been playing very well. I have not picked my darts up since last Thursday – I had a week off to chill. But to come here and win and be six points clear, I am comfortable.
“All players have to have a rest and after the performance tonight, I will have another week off! I just want to get to the O2 [for May’s play-offs] as quickly as possible. I have put myself in a really good position and I do want to finish No 1. I was happy with my doubles tonight but there is plenty more to come.”
