However, it would be unlikely if Littler had joined the talkSPORT Breakfast team in pouring a pint before 8am like the three hosts.
Speaking to Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist, Shebahn Ahern said: “18-year-old Luke Litter, happy birthday young sir. Today’s the day.
“He maybe won’t be having his first pint at 7.22 on a Tuesday morning but we’ve got two grown men here who might just want to ‘cheers’ together for young Luke Littler.”
Ahern brought a tray of pints in for the trio to share, but Rangers legend McCoist opted against partaking in a drink, explaining: “I’m doing Dry January!”
While Stelling was far from happy with his pour, saying: “If you could see the head on this you’d be doing Dry January, February, March and April.”
McCoist then joked that they would need a spoon to take off some of the head before drinking them, and wishing Littler a happy birthday.
Stelling, 69, recalled his own 18th birthday, and informed Littler that “in 1973 darts was a pub game – just a pub game. You weren’t getting paid for it anywhere.”
He added: “My 18th was in the pub. It was 1973 and you could go to the pub and get four pints and a packet of crisps for 50p.
“You’d go to the pub because remember, there was no internet, no mobile phones, you didn’t have a PC, there was no streaming, you had three TV channels and in 1973 there were powercuts going on and the TV went off at 10.30 in the evening.”
Littler has already confirmed that he would be enjoying a low-key affair to bring in his 18th year.
“I haven’t got anything planned really because there is a lot of darts around this time,” Littler told PA. “I will probably just do something at home before the crazy schedule starts – but I gave myself the best early birthday present by winning the worlds.
“My first year has been difficult, at the start of the year with the Premier League and travelling to the European tours, I have been travelling up and down the country. It’s at the start of every year when the crazy schedule is.”
Littler will travel to Den Borsch for the Dutch Darts Masters later this week.
