Convicted killer Lucy Letby has reportedly been complaining to her inmates that she’s “wasting away” in prison while she is in the “prime of her life”. The former nurse, 35, is serving whole life orders for murdering babies in her care.
Letby is completing her sentence at Houseblock Four in HMP Bronzefield which houses the country’s most dangerous female prisoners. Despite her convictions, Letby spends her days whining that she is not outside, while being accompanied by a guard at all times
“She’s worried about the time this is all taking, the last trial was one year long, with zero defence experts, but now they are going to have these 14 people, how long is the trial going to be, what court is going to be able to manage a year-long trial. Meanwhile, she’s 35 years old, she’s in the prime of her life and her life is wasting away,” a prison insider, who requested anonymity, told The Mirror.
Letby, 35 was given 15 whole life sentences after being found guilty of ending the lives of seven new-born babies and attempting to murder seven more.
The jail insider revealed that the former neonatal nurse has been working as part of the prison regime, including making toast at breakfast and doing the laundry for all of the women on the wing.
The insider said: “She is really odd, she’s very weird. She doesn’t come across as very sympathetic, she’s not very friendly, she’s super shy actually, but she will help wherever she can. She’s just odd, she has a weird look, when she thinks someone is looking at her, she’s staring at people.”
Letby is considered a danger to others, and a target for other inmates to cause harm to her, therefore she is reportedly accompanied by staff at all times.
“Lucy has to be accompanied by a guard everywhere she goes, she is considered dangerous and also is vulnerable to other prisoners,” they said.
The source also gave an insight to Letby’s friendships inside, explaining that she has a growing relationship with Beinash Batool who is serving life for murdering her own step daughter.
“She’s best friends with that Beinash,” the insider said, explaining how the pair enjoy playing cards together.
Earlier this week, a press conference saw Letby’s lawyers and a panel of medical experts fight their latest bid for the killer’s freedom. They released “significant new medical evidence” and they demanded a case review, claiming “they did not find murders” and that “death or injury were due to natural causes or just bad medical care”.
