Meghan Markle has reflected on her “mistakes” while trying to launch three new ventures—her Netflix show, lifestyle brand, and podcast. Between the release of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, the launch of her company As Ever, and now her Lemonada podcast, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, has had an eventful year. On Wednesday, she spoke at the TIME100 Summit in New York City.
While Meghan has been busy with several engagements, her endeavours have not all been smooth sailing for the mum-of-two. Her Netflix show, With Love, received a mixed response from audiences, and Loose Women presenter Jane Moore, 62, has delivered her verdict after only watching one episode of the eight-part series.
Writing in her column for The Sun, she shared: “A Martha Stewart for the modern age was perhaps the aim of this eight-part series called ‘With Love, Meghan’ but the content was as predictable as Sir Rod Stewart donning a kilt to sing Auld Lang Syne and far less entertaining.”
Jane claimed the lifestyle show lacked “authenticity” after the Duchess introduced her make-up artist Daniel Martin.
“‘I feel this is all fake,’ says her ‘bestie’ and make-up artist Daniel Martin in the first episode,” Jane wrote.
She continued: “Ok, so he’s referring to the stunning mountain backdrop as they enjoy afternoon tea in the back garden of the rented house Meghan films in, but I feel he inadvertently speaks for anyone who manages to endure the full 37 minutes.
Thankfully, I watched it as soon as it dropped at 8am.
Had it been 8pm, I’d have nodded off at the first sign of Meghan making home-made bath salts for Daniel’s sleepover.”
Jane added, “Dear reader, I only managed one episode in its entirety, such was my copy deadline. But I skimmed through the others to check that they were all similar in style and tone, and it seems they are”.
In her series With Love, Meghan saw many famous faces in her kitchen as she prepared elaborate recipes and home decor.
Meanwhile, Meghan has opened up about how she handles being under a “microscope” and explained that she has made a “very conscious effort to create boundaries for herself, her wellbeing, and mental health”.
She added that she must be a good “role model” so she can “raise a very strong and confident young woman.”
Prince Harry’s wife spoke candidly about her family life with son Archie and daughter Lilibet at the TIME100 Summit.
