An entire London Underground line will be closed this weekend for maintenance, according to a warning from Transport for London. On Saturday, 5 July and Sunday, 6 July, buses will take the place of trains on the Metropolitan line. Affected passengers are also encouraged to take local buses or alternative Tube lines.
On both days, part of the Piccadilly line is also scheduled to close for similar renovations. There will be no service between South Harrow and Uxbridge. According to TfL, those affected should take the replacement buses or local buses, which will be available. It coincides with the yearly Pride march, which is scheduled to cause roads around Central London to close on Saturday. Some 35,000 people will march in the procession starting at noon from Hyde Park Corner, passing through Piccadilly Circus, Haymarket, and Cockspur Street before arriving at Whitehall Place, the main stage, and the rallying place at Trafalgar Square.
Most of TfL’s services will be operational, but due to the congested Tube stations, customers may have to wait in queue to board a train. Due to road closures, some buses will also be diverted or stop short of their intended destination.
The following stations are recommended for anyone wishing to witness the procession or attend events in Trafalgar Square or Soho:
- Bond Street
- Charing Cross
- Embankment
- Leicester Square
- Oxford Circus
- Tottenham Court Road
- Victoria
Due to the heavy traffic in the area, several stations might only be accessible by exit. There may be additional traffic at stations around the West End as a result of the British Summertime Festival in Hyde Park.
