A pensioner is fighting for his life in hospital after a horror bus crash in central London. The Met Police confirmed officers rushed to the scene in Regent Street shortly before 1pm this afternoon. A spokeperson for the force said: “Police were called at 12.52pm on Monday, July 28 following a collision between a bus and a pedestrian on Regent Street.
“The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. His condition is thought to be life-threatening. This incident is ongoing and bus services in the area are on diversion. No arrests have been made.”
Authorities have closed off nearby St Margaret Street following the incident, which also involved a cyclist being knocked down, according to The Mirror.
Witnesses reportedly said police and ambulance vehicles rushed to the scene after a bus “accidentally ran over a man” and “appeared to also knock over a cyclist”.
Initial coverage suggested a man was “trapped” under a bus on the street, which is one of the busiest and most popular among tourists in central London.
