Liverpool are reportedly preparing a ‘big-money bid’ for Newcastle star Alexander Isak. The Reds are in the market for a striker this summer, with Arne Slot in the heart of a major rebuild of his ranks on Merseyside.

The Premier League title winners have already replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold with Jeremie Frimpong in a deal worth £29.5million from Bayer Leverkusen, and they remain locked in talks with the Bundesliga outfit over a second transfer, with Florian Wirtz eyed.

With a deal for Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth now also on the horizon, Liverpool appearing to be turning their attention to one of their biggest transfer priorities – acquiring the services of a marquee No. 9.

According to GiveMeSport, the Reds are set to table a significant offer for Newcastle star Isak, though there is an awareness that any sort of deal for the Sweden international will be ‘difficult’.

Liverpool’s move for Wirtz is expected to break the current British transfer record (Chelsea’s £115m signing of Moises Caicedo, but the Anfield outfit are prepared to break the record for the second time ‘in succession’. They are ‘determined’ to sign Isak and are set to submit an opening bid worth £100m plus add-ons.

However, it is unclear whether that will test the resolve of Newcastle given that they are demanding a fee upwards of £150m. Nevertheless, Liverpool made already made it clear that they would be willing to splash the cash if their ‘dream target’ is available.

The Reds are hopeful of offloading some of their fringe stars to fund their pursuit, with Darwin Nunez expected to be one of the first names out of the Anfield exit. The Uruguay international has been the subject of talks with Napoli recently, and there is also interest from Saudi Pro League sides in the ex-Benfica forward.

Luis Diaz could also leave the club this summer amid links to Barcelona, with Diogo Jota also facing an uncertain future on Merseyside. Jarrell Quansah, Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott also have suitors abroad, though it remains to be seen whether Slot’s side are willing to facilitate any of their exits or they remain as part of the first-team to provide depth for when they look to challenge on all fronts next season.
