Authorities have offered an update on Monday’s horrific incident at the Liverpool title parade. Shortly before the end of the players’ open-top bus celebrations, a Ford Galaxy car mowed down a group of supporters, hospitalising nearly 50 people and leaving two with serious injuries.
Merseyside police confirmed that a 53-year-old while man from the local area, believed to be the driver, had been taken into custody shortly after the collision. And on Tuesday afternoon more information was released to the public.
“Detectives are making significant progress,” they said. “We have arrested a 53-year-old man from west derby on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving, and driving while unfit through drugs.”
