Liberty renounce rights to three players in first offseason roster transaction

The Liberty made their first offseason roster transaction — albeit a minor one.

New York renounced the rights to guard Ivana Dojkic and forwards Seehia Ridard and Annika Soltau.

The move was published on the WNBA’s transaction page Monday but retroactive to Sunday.

Teams are only allowed to carry over the rights to four players who didn’t participate in the previous season. Before Sunday, the Liberty had seven players who fell into that category.

New York maintains the draft rights to French point guard Marine Fauthoux.

Forward Betnijah Laney-Hamilton, Spanish forward/center Raquel Carrera and Chinese center Han Xu’s statuses are “suspended-contract expired,” meaning the Liberty has exclusive negotiating rights with each.

All signs point to Laney-Hamilton returning to her spot within the Liberty after missing last season to rehab from knee surgery.

Carrera plans to make her WNBA debut this season, and Xu is also hoping to return to the WNBA, multiple sources told The Post.

Teams received the green light to start sending out qualifying offers Monday. The free agency negotiating period opens Wednesday, though deals can’t be officially signed until Saturday.

The 2026 WNBA Draft is scheduled for April 13, and the Liberty hold the No. 41 overall pick.

Neither Dojkic, Ridard nor Soltau played in the WNBA last season.

Dojkic, a 28-year-old from Croatia, appeared in 26 games for the Liberty during the 2024 season, averaging 3.3 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists.

The Liberty signed Ridard, 23, to a training-camp contract last offseason, but did not join the team.

Meanwhile, the Liberty signed Soltau, 21, to a rookie deal last April after the German shot blocker went undrafted, but she also never joined the team.
