Letitia Dean's weight loss secret includes avoiding a popular meal


Ever since Letitia Dean’s incredible transformation has come to attention, fans have been begging for her weight loss secret.

One fan took to X (previously Twitter), and said: “I beg someone tell me Letitia Dean’s weight loss secret #EastEnders.”

Best known for her role as Sharon Watts in the BBC soap opera EastEnders, Letitia Dean’s weight loss first took the internet by storm when she stunned in a white jumpsuit at the National Television Awards back in September of 2023.

The actress has gone down four dress sizes, and is estimated to have dropped at least two stones. Her transformation also serves as excellent motivation for women in their 50s struggling to stay fit, drop a few kilograms, and feel confident in their own skin.

Letitia, having lived through her own share of fat shaming, confessed on Secrets from the Square back in 2020: “I had quite a lot of horrible things said about me. She’s too fat, the other actors complain they can’t fit on the same set with her.

“I just woke up one morning, and I’d had enough. For years and years – as long as I can remember – my weight had yo-yoed up and down. I’d go on fad diets like Atkins or I’d only eat eggs,” the actor told Closer.

Letitia Dean’s recent weight loss however has been accredited to long-term modifications in diet control and what she eats, and particularly avoiding junk food as much as possible. Junk food contains an abundance of calories — especially in the form of fat and sugar.

Healthline explained: “Junk food has a low satiety value, meaning it’s not very filling. Liquid calories — soda, sports drinks, and specialty coffees — are one of the worst offenders as they can deliver hundreds of calories without affecting your appetite. Junk food — especially sugar-sweetened beverages — are significantly associated with weight gain in both children and adults.”

The actor has adopted an accessible routine and a lifestyle-centric approach to losing weight. The BBC star sticks to a well-balanced diet, keeping to 1,300 calories a day. She also compliments her diet with physical workouts such as running and boxercise.

As a result, not only did her waist size shrink, but she “found she had so much more energy” compared to when she was eating junk food.

When complimented with regular excercising, Letitia Dean’s weight loss routine can be incorporated and followed after a brief discussion with your dietician or nutritionist. It is essential to tailor your diet to your body’s requirements and needs.

For example, research has shown that reducing the intake of calories suddenly can affect your metobolism, and could even lead you to gain weight when you get off that diet.

It is advised that you decrease the intake gradually, while also incorporating physical workout. According to the NHS website, the recommended intake is 2,000 calories per day for women and 2,500 calories per day for men.
