Keeping your lawn healthy is so important for the overall appearance of your garden. But as we get closer to spring and summer, you might notice that it’s looking slightly worse for wear after the winter.
Achieving a lush, green and full-looking lawn doesn’t need to be a difficult task. According to one expert on social media, there’s one very important task that must be done in spring to get your lawn looking its best, and it takes minutes to do. TikToker Dad Advice From Bo has lifted the lid on how to grow that perfect green grass, and this time of year is perfect, because it’s when your grass grows quickest.
He’s shared a helpful tutorial on how to fill in any of those bare spots that you might have noticed on your lawn after winter.
There are a few things which can cause bare patches in your lawn, from shade to pet urine or pests and disease. Thankfully, fixing it is simple – and it’s quick too.
According to Bo, all you need to do is identify any of these spots, and use a rake or a hoe to ‘rough up’ the dirt. This might make it look worse at first, but it’s an essential step.
Next, you’ll want to to sprinkle your new grass seed evenly over the dirt you’ve just roughed up. The final step is to cover everything back up with another layer of soil, and wait for the new grass to grow.
According to the experts at The Grass People, most grass seed species will begin to grow about eight to 10 days after you first sow them.
Then, after about six to eight weeks, you should have fully grown grass and no more patchy lawns.
Because this process can take up to two months, doing it in the springtime is vital if you want that picture-perfect green lawn by the summer.
After sowing your grass seed, you should water it daily for the first few weeks. And if you avoid watering it when it rains, you’ll soon start to spot those green grass shoots coming up.
