Embattled Los Angeles schools boss Alberto Carvalho is facing an FBI probe and demands from furious parents to resign from his $440,000 a year role as the head of the nation’s second largest school system.
And now his dark past is being dredged up — including scandalous selfies and a raunchy email exchange with a reporter.
The LAUSD superintendent, 61, had his downtown LA office, San Pedro home and Miami-area property raided Wednesday morning by federal agents over allegations of fraud and corruption, a source told The Post.
LAUSD board members hosted an emergency meeting on Thursday, but after a marathon four-hour session failed to reach an outcome.
The attention has Carvalho’s private life into the spotlight — including accusations he was having an extramarital affair with a reporter while leading Miami’s public schools system.
Carvalho’s sultry emails to Miami Herald reporter Tania deLuzuriaga were leaked, including messages that said: “Will you be completely offended if I jump into your arms the next time I see you?” and “Love, love, love you. xoxoxo.”
The messages surfaced publicly after he was named superintendent, and he denied having an affair. Carvalho initially claimed the emails were doctored, but later admitted they were real and “inappropriate.”
DeLuzuriaga, who had left the Herald by the time the emails emerged, subsequently lost her job at the Boston Globe.
Meanwhile, in 2020, an Instagram account got ahold of topless pictures of Carvalho and suggested he was a cheater.
The account was named “I have a lover” with the handle @superintendentofmiami. It had 55 followers with 14 posts before it was shut down.
The first photo showed up on December 12, 2020, the Herald reported. It contained a shirtless selfie of Carvalho posing with his left hand behind his head.
The description read, “Love myself! #superintendent #love #selflove #memyselfandi.”
The account also contained several additional topless selfies of Carvalho. One bizarre image shows a shot of nude legs.
The Herald reported that the photos were part a series that included images of three naked woman, along with posts about cheating and lying.
“Cheating is a choice, not a mistake,” one read. “Cheaters always want you to be loyal while they’re being unfaithful,” read another.
“I cheated on my wife with a 30yo girl and I was trying to hide it!” read the account’s description.
At the time, the paper noted that attempts to identify the owner of the account were not successful.
The LAUSD’s board now have the choice of whether to stick with Carvalho, replace him or bring in an interim superintendent.
A statement on Thursday night read: “The Board of Education has recessed its special closed-session meeting and will reconvene tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. to continue its deliberations.
“The district continues normal operations across all schools and offices. We are grateful to our dedicated employees, families and students for their steady focus and commitment to our school communities.”
Exactly why federal agents searched his properties is still unclear.
The Post contacted the LAUSD and deLuzuriaga for comment.
