LAPD investigating after 4-year-old boy found dead in car

A 4-year-old boy was found dead inside a parked vehicle in Valley Village Tuesday afternoon, the Los Angeles Police Department told The California Post.

Emergency responders were called to the 12700 block of McCormick Street around 3:51 p.m.

The initial report came in as a child abuse investigation before it was quickly upgraded to a death investigation.

The child was reportedly left inside an Acura MDX.

“The investigation is in its very early stages, Officer Jeff Lee told The Post. “Detectives must interview the parties involved and witnesses and collect any evidence related to this case.”

“We are not sharing specific details about the incident at this time, as doing so could jeopardize the integrity of the investigation,” he said.

The child was reportedly left inside an Acura MDX.

The parents allegedly thought their son had already been dropped off at daycare and did not realize he was still inside the SUV until later, when they found him unresponsive in the back seat.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, according to the LAPD.
