LAFC has announced they are parting ways with head coach Marc Dos Santos.
Dos Santos’ departure comes after he was appointed as head coach in 2025, after serving as an assistant under the team’s previous head coach, Steve Cherundolo.
LAFC released a statement and said they “Will share an update on [their] interim coaching plans soon.”
“Marc has given a great deal to this club over the years, and we are grateful for his commitment, care and contributions to LAFC,” President of soccer operations John Thorrington said in the statement by.
“We wish Marc and his family all the best moving forward.”
The club’s decision to part ways with Dos Santos comes with the team sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference with 41 points and an 11-8-9 record. There are only six games left in the regular season.
The team boasts an incredibly talented roster that is headline by Son Heung-Min and Denis Bouanga, but has been underachieving as they’ve won only two of their last 10 games and earning draws in four of them.
LAFC started off this season as one of the hottest teams in the sport, winning 10 of their first 15 games of the season, including an impressive 3-0 victory against defending champion Inter Miami.
But since then, things have gone awry for Los Angeles.
Since LAFC joined the MLS in 2018, Dos Santos is only the third person to coach the club that has had a lot of early success in their history — including in 2022, when Cherundolo led them to their first MLS Cup title in 2022.
Dos Santos coached his final game with the team on Saturday in a crushing 1-0 loss on the road to FC Dallas.
LAFC will look to figure out who will be their next interim head coach. They will a little time, as they don’t take the pitch again until Saturday, October 10, when they play at home against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
