Labour’s support among Muslim voters has dropped by around a third, new polling suggests.
The research by Survation found 60 per cent of British Muslims would back Sir Keir Starmer’s party.
The figure is down from 86 per cent in polling carried out in 2021.
The survey, which was conducted for the Labour Muslim Network, spoke to 682 Muslims across Great Britain via telephone.
Some 14 per cent said they would vote for the Greens, nine per cent Lib Dems, eight per cent Tories and four per cent SNP. A further five per cent said other.
It comes as Sir Keir has faced ongoing pressure over Labour’s position on the Gaza conflict.
The Labour leader came under fire over repeated refusals to call for an immediate ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
He followed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in calling for a “sustainable” ceasefire in December.
Sir Keir faces a major test in the Rochdale by-election later this month with former Labour MP George Galloway running against their candidate on a pro-Palestinian platform.
Labour is widely expected to hold the seat after selecting local councillor Azhar Ali as their candidate.
But Mr Galloway has been urging voters to “boycott” Labour over their stance on Gaza.
