AEW is filled with some of the best in-ring performers in the world, but one of its youngest stars is becoming the promotion’s weekly can’t-miss attraction – especially with Will Ospreay sidelined.
TNT champion Kyle Fletcher, 27, added another hit to his growing catalog by retaining his title in a ladder match against Mark Briscoe at Grand Slam Australia on Saturday night. You can put it right there with AEW World champion MJF against Brody King for match of the night.
Fletcher also had one of the early matches of the year so far against Tommaso Ciampa to win the TNT championship earlier this month on Dynamite.
But a ladder match always feels like a spectacle, and Fletcher and Briscoe’s willingness to push each other through their seven clashes in AEW has been a sight to see – even if thankfully, from a pure story perspective, it’s long past time to move on from the rivalry.
