King Harald of Norway prepares for surgery within days after infection


King Harald of Norway is set for surgery within days after contracting a nasty infection.

The 87-year-old monarch will have a pacemaker inserted “early next week”, according to a spokesperson, now that his health is steadily improving, and his general condition is satisfactory.

King Harald contracted an infection after falling ill on holiday in Malaysia, it was revealed on February 27. while on his private holiday, it was confirmed by the palace on 27 February.

He is now being treated at Rikshospitalet in the Norwegian capital of Oslo, after flying home via medical transport earlier a few days earlier.
