Royal fans have been sent into a frenzy this week after spotting King Charles’s “hot” equerry. Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson, of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, has been spotted in Canada over the last 24 hours accompanying the King, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, on a very brief state visit to the country.

This is the second time the equerry has been seen this month, with the 41-year-old also attending the 80th anniversary of VE Day celebrations in London by the monarch’s side. This has been a surprise for some as Lt Col Thompson moved to a “more executive and less public-facing role” last year, while still keeping his role as senior equerry to King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77.

This is believed to be because he didn’t like the attention he had received online due to his good looks.

Since his latest appearance in Canada this week, royal fans have been sent into a frenzy and have shown delight at seeing him in public again.

One fan wrote on X: “A fine sight for tired eyes!!!”

Another said: “A good picture of him.”

A third wrote: “It’s difficult to find the Super Equerry without his handsome kilt, but there he is! Thank you!”

The King and Camilla are in Canada for a very brief time, having landed in Ottawa on Monday. They have already attended a series of engagements.

Today, the monarch and Camilla will be attending the state opening of Parliament.

The King will give a historic speech from the Throne to the Senate Chamber.

Their Majesties are then expected to fly home tonight.
