The heavens rained on the King’s parade last night, with Charles left standing in a torrential downpour repeatedly asking: “Where’s my umbrella?” The King and Queen arrived at Sir Vivian Richard’s Stadium for the 45th annual Antigua and Barbuda Independence Parade shortly before 6:30pm local time.
Within minutes of them arriving and stepping on the Dias, the heavens opened and Camilla, wearing a white Anna Valentine dress, quickly turned to ask her staff for an umbrella. After gesticulating several times a PPO ran to her aid with her trusty clear umbrella as she made her way to the covered seating area to take her position to watch the rest of the parade.
However, staffers appeared to forget that the King was still standing in the downpour, and repeatedly asked “Where’s my umbrella?” while motioning his arms.
Eventually, his equerry ran over with a small black umbrella as he made his way into the centre of the cricket pitch to inspect the Guard of Honour as it continued to rain heavily.
