King Charles visited Princess Kate in his dressing gown and 'toddled' to her hospital bed

Their cancer diagnoses have brought together the King and the Princess of Wales.

The pair were in the London Clinic together in January and King Charles was often seen “toddling” around the hallways in a robe to visit Princess Kate.

The Princess of Wales revealed yesterday that she had been diagnosed with cancer. She is due to start preventative chemotherapy soon.

King Charles, who announced that he had prostate cancer earlier this year, has said that he is “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did”.

Since their time together in hospital, the King has “remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks”.

“There is a very strong relationship between their majesties and the Waleses. They are very close, even more so at the moment,” a senior royal source told the Times.

A source close to Charles said: “The King has always had a close, warm and unique relationship with the princess. She has a great love and respect for him and his position.

“When they were in hospital together there was a lot of toddling down the corridor to spend time with her. He has been encouraging and supporting her throughout.”

This difficult time has also brought Prince William and Queen Camilla together, despite them having a strained relationship for many years.

But this has not extended to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were reportedly not told of Kate’s diagnosis until it was released to the public.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement yesterday: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
