King Charles has been forced to abandon his two beloved annual holidays due to his ongoing cancer battle, it has been reported.
The monarch, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, has carried on with his royal duties on many occasions but was reportedly unable to ski and visit Romania this year.
Skiing and visiting Romania, which have been described as “two [of his] favourite annual holidays” by The Times, were out of the question for the monarch as he continue to undergo cancer treatment.
The King, 76, is known to enjoy a yearly ski trip – and was pictured on the slopes alongside his wife on the annual Christmas card in 2010.
In light of their cancelled trip to Romania, the King and Queen reportedly embarked on separate trips – with the King opting on spending time alone at the Castle of Mey in Caithness.
Queen Camilla, 77, is said to have planned a holiday with her family. The destination, however, remains unknown.
Sources have revealed a positive update on the King’s cancer treatment, sharing that it is “moving in a positive direction”.
Stating that his treatment will continue into 2025, a Buckingham Palace insider recently told Sky News: “His treatment has been moving in a positive direction, and as a managed condition, the treatment cycle will continue into next year.”
Following being given the green light to travel to Australia and Samoa back in October, a senior Palace official shared at the time that the King would be completing a full schedule next year.
The Senior Palace official at the time said: “We’re now working on a pretty normal looking full overseas tour programme for next year, which is a high for us to end on, to know that we can be thinking in those terms – subject to sign off by doctors.
“It is hard to overstate the joy that he takes from duty and service and being in public and seeing those crowds engaging with communities across the spectrum. That really does lift the spirits. You can see that.”
The King and Queen Camilla are due to spend time with other members of the Royal Family at the Sandringham estate today.
