King Charles is searching for the next generation of young creatives to become young charity ambassadors for The King’s Foundation working to protect traditional skills from textiles to organic farming.
The King will work to amplify young voices in heritage arts, including fashion, thatching and blacksmithing, and aim to showcase their work.
As the Foundation celebrates its 35th year, Charles is seeking 35 ambassadors to fly the flag for his beloved heritage crafts.
Those aged 18 to 35 working in traditional arts are invited to apply and become advocates for the Foundation’s work.
As reported in the Telegraph, the executive director of the King’s Foundation, Simon Sadinsky, said: “In order to create change – to promote these trades, these practices, these skills that we feel so strongly about – it is fundamental to provide a voice to the next generation.”
The winning 35 ambassadors will complement the work of celebrity ambassadors such as David Beckham, Sienna Miller and Sir Rod Stewart by representing the skills at the heart of the charity’s mission.
The charity also supports 15,000 students across its education programmes each year and said it has a positive impact on hundreds of thousands of people around the world through its community regeneration projects.
Mr Sadinsky added: “It’s not just about looking backwards, it’s about the contemporary relevance of these skills and traditions, the knowledge and materials. I imagine it will be a very fascinating cohort.”
The winners will visit the King’s Foundation sites including Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Highgrove Gardens in Gloucestershire and the Garrison Chapel in London.
They will also be invited to all the key events this year as it marks its 35th anniversary.
The charity said: “Whether you are alumnus of a King’s Foundation course in traditional arts, a social media influencer sharing tips on crafting using natural materials, an established entrepreneur making sustainable furniture, a pioneering young organic farmer or a gardener encouraging people to get out into nature – we want to hear from you.”
Earlier in January, the King marked the milestone anniversary celebrations at Dumfries House in Ayrshire, Scotland. The King filled a time capsule hoped to be uncovered in 2125.
