King Charles breaks cover for first time after death of close friend at Highgrove estate


King Charles has been pictured for the first time since news of the death of his friend broke. The monarch was seen leaving Windsor Castle on Friday afternoon, hours after the death of Ian Farquhar was made public.

Mr Farquhar died aged 78 at Charles’s Highgrove estate. He was a close friend of Queen Camilla’s and served as the Queen Mother’s equerry.

He was a renowned huntsman and also served in renowned British Army regiment the Queen’s Own Hussars.

He died on Wednesday, with news of his death being made public on Thursday night.

Charles cut a sombre figure as he was driven away from Windsor this afternoon.
