WASHINGTON — Embattled US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle announced her resignation after the White House asked her to step down in the wake of revelations about her pressing donors to pay off her personal bills.

The former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. and ex-wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) faced a firestorm after a bombshell Wall Street Journal report exposed text messages of her asking a donor for $100,000 to pay off her American Express before getting confirmed as ambassador.

“My gratitude and respect for President Trump and Secretary Rubio remain unwavering. I am proud of what we accomplished together, and I will always be a loyal supporter of President Trump and his mission to Make America Great Again,” Guilfoyle posted on X.

“While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end.”

Newly minted White House press secretary Katie Zacharia revealed hours earlier that Guilfoyle had been asked to step down.

The scandal surrounding Guilfoyle had reportedly miffed Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Guilfoyle said she’s resigning despite the allegations about a pay-to-play scheme being “false.”

“I also want to address the recent allegations against me,” the former Fox News on-air personality wrote.

“These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity. I have dedicated my professional life to fighting for justice, standing up for what is right, and defending the values that make America exceptional. I will not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service.”
