Killer at large after 66-year-old man stabbed and left for dead


Police are on the hunt for a knifeman after a 66-year-old was stabbed to death on Friday.

The unnamed man was found in the communal area of a block of flats in Lockhart Close in Enfield at around 7.30pm on March 1.

Despite paramedics treating the man at the scene, he died a short while later. A murder investigation has since been launched with the suspect still at large.

Police are arranging a formal identification and post-mortem exam. DCI Laura Nelson, Specialist Crime, said: “The victim was stabbed inside a flat in Lockhart Close and was found, critically injured, in the communal area of the block.

“I know that local people will be extremely concerned by this tragic incident, and I can assure them that dedicated detectives are investigating. We will do everything possible to find whoever was responsible for this killing.

“I am grateful to the local residents who assisted officers last night and this morning as our investigation commenced. They will continue to see police working in the area, including forensic officers and other specialists who are supporting what will be a painstaking murder investigation.”

She added: “I am appealing for information from anyone who saw anything suspicious in Lockhart Close, Derby Road, Lincoln Road and the surrounding area on Friday evening.

“Did you see anything or anyone unusual? If so, please call police, or to remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers.”
