Research has unveiled that nearly half of children relish their holidays more when their grandparents are part of the adventure.

A survey of 1,000 youngsters aged six to 11 revealed that 44% find trips with their grandma more enjoyable than just with mum and dad, while 42% feel the same about their grandad.

The main reasons kids cherish holidaying with their older relatives include creating special memories (49%) and engaging in fun activities together (40%). Some children also appreciate being spoiled with gifts (38%) or having extended playtime (37%).

But it’s not just having grandparents there that help make a holiday more memorable.

The study by Royal Carribean International also discovered that the ideal children’s holiday lasts 11 days and includes four activities per day.

Top activities kids enjoyed included swimming (67%), visiting a water park (59%), and going down slides (54%). Alongside rollercoasters and ziplining, children also enjoy exploring new locations and sampling unique foods.

A whopping 79% of children surveyed place making new friends at the top of their priority list.

Royal Caribbean International entices families with the promise of adventure, boasting the tallest dry slide at sea, an exhilarating zip line, and endless ice cream by the pool.

Gerard Nolan from Royal Caribbean International commented: “We know planning family holidays can be a balancing act to ensure everyone is entertained and different family needs are being met.

“By offering something for everyone, it creates the ultimate multi-generational experience, without anyone having to compromise.”
