KFC brings back iconic menu item – but fans need to act fast

One of the UK’s most popular fast food chains, which is found on many high streets across the country, has brought back a popular menu item. However, it is only available for a limited time. KFC is a familiar sight in many towns and cities across the country, as it has over 1,000 restaurants in total nationwide. And fans of the chicken chain are in for a good time with the return of one of its stand-out menu items from the last few years.

The American fried chicken chain brought back the menu item earlier this year after five years away. Now, it is back again, but for a limited time only. Over 1.1 million Double Down Zinger burgers were sold across the UK earlier this year, so the demand is clearly there for the bunless burger. The Double Down Zinger is quite a unique burger, as there is no bread. Instead, two pieces of fried chicken are placed where the bread would normally be, with the KFC’s signature mayo, cheese and a hashbrown in the middle.

However, fans of the limited edition will have to act fast. It will be available for a limited time only, from October 13. Once we reach November 9, we won’t see it on KFC menus in the UK anymore.

The Zinger Double Down is available from £7.99. Customers can opt for the classic burger, upgrade to a Meal (£9.49), or go all out with the Box Meal (£10.99), which includes fries, a drink, a side, and two Hot Wings.

The unique burger will be available in KFC restaurants across the UK. It can be purchased in-store or to have at home via Deliveroo, Uber Eats or Just Eat.

The Zinger Double Down returned to menus in KFC restaurants in Britain in the Spring of this year, but only for a limited time. Fans have been eagerly awaiting its return ever since.

Phoebe Syms, Brand Manager at KFC UK&I, previously said: “The Double Down isn’t just a menu item—it’s a KFC icon with a cult following like no other. Fans have been calling for its return for years, and we’re beyond excited to finally bring it back with a fiery twist!”

“We’ve made sure it’s everything they remember and more, from the legendary crispy chicken ‘buns’ to brand-new packaging that keeps every bite as perfect as the first. This is all about giving our fans the ultimate Double Down experience they’ve been craving—but they’ll need to be quick, as it’s only here for a limited time!”
