Amid the anticipated release of Meghan Markle’s rosé wine, the Duchess of Sussex let her fans know she is still clinging on to her royal links by using her royal title. At 4PM UK time. on July 1, as expected, Meghan’s Napa Valley Rosé was available to purchase stateside on the As Ever official website.

Meghan additionally let fans know about the wine release by issuing a brand newsletter. It read: “We’re thrilled to announce our debut rosé is now available! Thoughtfully curated by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, this gorgeous rosé offers a roundness and depth of flavor, complemented by a gentle minerality.

“We hope this wine invites you to celebrate warm summer moments with the ones you love. Cheers, and enjoy!”

Controversy arose recently when Meghan Markle signed As Ever boxed gifts to podcast host Jamie Kern Lina, “With the Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex.”

When Harry and Meghan officially left the Royal Family in 2020 and quit royal duties, Buckingham Palace released a statement which partly read: “The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.”

For their part, the Sussexes explained on their own website, “As agreed and set out in January, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will retain their “HRH” prefix, thereby formally remaining known as His Royal Highness The Duke of Sussex and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer actively use their HRH titles as they will no longer be working members of the family as of Spring 2020.”

Despite Meghan using the title in a private capacity, this has drawn criticism from royal commentators. However, Meghan’s “HRH” title was not used in her most recent newsletter informing fans of her wine release.

The rosé, sourced from California’s Napa Valley, is a bespoke blend and, according to the brand’s description, features “soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish”.

The Duchess of Sussex’s wine comes in batches of three, six and twelve, with each bottle costing £22 ($30) and £66 ($90), £116 ($159) and £218 ($300) in total.

It is available to purchase only within the US with a £15 ($20) flat-rate shipping and it can also be shipped to Hawaii with additional charges.

On the website, As Ever described the new product: “A delicately balanced rosé with soft notes of stone fruit, gentle minerality, and a lasting finish.

“Reminiscent of the finest Provençal styles, it’s crisp, pale in colour, and effortlessly elegant — crafted for slow afternoons and golden-hour gatherings. This rosé captures the essence of sun-drenched outdoor moments through its thoughtfully crafted blend.”
