Sir Keir Starmer has fallen to his lowest popularity level since becoming Labour leader, new polling shows. The YouGov survey gives the Prime Minister a net favourability rating of minus 50.
Seven in 10 Britons now hold an unfavourable opinion of Sir Keir, including 50% of 2024 Labour voters. His net popularity score is down three points from last month and is the lowest the pollster has recorded since he became Labour leader in April 2020.
Meanwhile, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has a net rating of minus 31, with 61% unfavourable and 30% favourable.
Tory leader Kemi Badenoch is slightly less popular than Mr Farage with a score of minus 35, with 54% negative and 19% positive.
Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is launching a new hard-Left party, has the same score as Mr Farage.
Angela Rayner, who resigned as deputy prime minister in a row over her tax affairs, has a net rating of minus 40 which is her lowest to date.
The polling is the latest blow to the Prime Minister who is facing intense pressure amid the fallout from the sacking of Lord Mandelson.
Some Labour MPs have suggested he could be ousted if the 2026 elections in Scotland, Wales and large parts of England go badly.
Labour is consistently trailing Nigel Farage’s Reform UK in the opinion polls, suggesting May’s ballots could be a bloodbath for Sir Keir’s party.
Former Commons leader Lucy Powell, who is one of the candidates to replace Ms Rayner as Labour’s deputy leader, today warned that the party’s “unforced errors” have cost the party support.
YouGov polled 2,287 adults in Great Britain from September 10-11.
