Keep foxes out of your garden with 69p kitchen essential on your lawn

Foxes may to be cute to some but can be incredibly annoying to gardeners who constantly find themselves battling trampled on flower beds.

The pesky animals are known for digging up lawns and running over or eating flowers, leaving gardeners desperate to get rid of them.

There are many different fox deterrents on the market, ranging from expensive machines that emit ultrasonic frequencies to cheap household essentials you may already have in your kitchen.

One of the latter options involves a cheap albeit it very smelly liquid that has been hailed as an effective method that’ll set you back less than £1.

Foxes are known to dislike strong smells such as white vinegar, so placing bowls of it around a garden, particularly in spots where foxes are entering, can prove successful.

Bottles of white vinegar can be found online for as little as 69p, making this one of the cheapest fox deterrents.

This is a tried and tested method that has proven effective. Journalist Abigail Wilson told The Sun that when all else failed, she found success with white vinegar, writing: “Despite the nasty smell, I have to say, it worked.

“I carefully watched out of my window and I have barely seen the foxes since, and after years of them entering my garden, I’m [relieved].

“Despite this though, my patio does still smell of the stuff, and similar to the cayenne pepper. I’m dreading the moment it rains and washes it all away.”

Other cheap alternatives with strong smells include cayenne pepper, chillies, and garlic.

Gardeners World has previously suggested making a homemade fox repellent spray by boiling chillies and garlic together in water, then using the filtered, infused water in a spray bottle.

Spraying this around the areas where foxes enter a garden is reported to be highly effective.
