Television presenter Kate Garraway is grappling with fresh financial difficulties after her media company recorded losses approaching £300,000 last year.
The Good Morning Britain anchor, 58, established Praespero 100 Ltd to manage her broadcasting income.
Recently submitted accounts to Companies House reveal the firm owed £288,122 for 2024. The news comes as
This represents a significant deterioration from 2023’s deficit of £165,011, which itself was down from a £36,888 profit in 2022.
The enterprise is registered as operating within “radio broadcasting, television programming and broadcasting activities, management consultancy activities other than financial management”, reports the Mirror.
This represents another setback for Kate, who accumulated debts totalling £800,000 due to the £4,000 weekly expenses of caring for her husband Derek Draper during his four-year battle with Covid complications before his death in January 2024, aged 56.
She faced a tax demand for £716,000 following the closure of their psychotherapy business Astra Aspera Ltd, which carried £184,096 of outstanding debt.
It is believed she disposed of a London property earlier this year to assist with settling these obligations.
Kate, mother to two teenagers, has previously disclosed how she was forced to dip into her pension savings to cover expenses.
London-based firm Hacker Young is now assisting with managing her financial matters.
Speaking on GMB in March 2024, Kate opened up about her monetary concerns to co-presenters Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid: “I am ashamed of the fact that I am in debt… because I have an incredible job that I love, that’s very well paid.”
She previously branded the care costs for her husband as “excessive” and “unpayable”.
She has courageously highlighted the struggles facing carers nationwide, noting many might have encountered an even more dire predicament than her own.
She explained: “I’m not a carer, travelling miles, paying their own transport, to go and help somebody for minimum wage.”
Kate was photographed alongside late husband Derek and her parents Gordon and Marilyn Garraway during one of her most treasured occasions.
She received an MBE for her contributions to broadcasting, journalism and charity work.
The investiture ceremony took place at Windsor Castle, on June 28, 2023.
