What our Post expert thinks about the Golden Boot
It’s not the first time Messi reclaimed the Golden Boot lead: he did it with a crucial late equalizer against Egypt in the Round of 16, while Kylian Mbappé pulled level again with a goal against Morocco in the quarterfinals.
Mbappé had one last opportunity to overtake Messi in France’s third-place match against England, while Messi will play for Argentina in the World Cup final.
Entering Saturday, Messi would secure his first Golden Boot by virtue of the tiebreaker since he holds more assists than Mbappé.
