Free groceries in New York City.

Kalshi, a sports-trading prediction market platform that launched in 2021, is taking over Westside Market on 3rd Avenue for New Yorkers starting at Noon ET on Tuesday, Feb. 3, to give out free groceries.

Kalshi tells The Post that the prediction market covers grocery tabs up to $50 for customers entering the market, with a maximum tab of $50,000 for shoppers paid by the prediction market.

The East Village market will be completely rebranded with Kalshi advertising as they look to educate people on the product.

For instance, prediction markets like Kalshi will offer interesting markets such as “Will the price of eggs go up this month?” where people trade yes or no throughout the month to potentially lock in profits and make money from the outcome.

Kalshi said that while the goal is to educate the general public about trading on real-life outcomes with money, the company also aims to help New Yorkers combat rising grocery costs by giving some lucky shoppers a break.

In November of 2020, Kalshi became a licensed financial exchange when the CFTC granted it a Designated Contract Market (DCM) to trade futures, swaps, options and commodities.
