Denver Broncos star Jonathon Cooper, one of the best pass rushers in the AFC, was arrested on Friday for domestic violence.

Jail records show the 28-year-old was booked at 2:38 a.m. in Douglas County, Colo. over an incident that occurred at 11:16 p.m. on Thursday.

Cooper is being held on three separate charges — one count of domestic violence summons and complaint, one count of domestic violence and one count of criminal mischief $300-1,000. His bond has been set at $1,000, a jail official told The California Post on Friday.

Further details surrounding the allegations against Cooper were not made immediately available.

The Broncos selected Cooper in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and after playing sparingly in his first two seasons in the league, he had a breakout year in 2023, logging 8.5 sacks.

In November 2024, he signed a four-year, $60 million contract extension.

In five seasons in Denver, he’s totaled 31.5 sacks and 266 combined tackles.

He played in all three of the Broncos’ playoff games this past season, recording one sack in the team’s AFC Championship Game loss to the Patriots.

News of Cooper’s arrest was first reported by TMZ.
