John Lewis heated airer 'massively reduces drying time' and is 'great for low consumption'

Many households are trying to get through the winter months without spending an extortionate amount on energy bills.

While there’s no way to fight the costs incurred by the energy crisis, making small investments can help save money in the long term.

Tumble dryers are very costly to run, and the best way to offset them is to find a new way to dry laundry.

John Lewis shoppers have discovered an item which can speed up drying time, plus it’s currently on offer.

The John Lewis 3-Tier Heated Indoor Clothes Airer has been reduced from £100 to £80, and comes with a two-year guarantee.

The airer can be used without heat, or plugged in to make drying laundry quicker and easier, keeping clothes to one location and avoiding covering radiators around the house.

It even has a unique feature for drying shoes and slippers, with hooks on the bottom to hang footwear on.

The device costs just pence per hour to run so it’s considerably cheaper than a tumble dryer, and has three tiers of drying space to hold up to 5kg of washing per shelf.

It’s lightweight and can be folded away neatly for storage too, and although it is an investment, it could save money on bills in the long run.

Shoppers are leaving their feedback on the airer, with some calling it ‘an excellent addition for drying washing’.

Lizzy said: ”If you don’t have central heating this is a must. It has massively reduced drying time. Would definitely recommend.”

David commented: ”Does the job with low consumption. Particularly good if duvet draped over drying clothes to get a warm duvet each night.”

This has been an excellent addition for drying washing. It dries difficult to dry items like jeans, sweat shirts, hoodies in half the time, plus it heats the area it’s in up! It helps dry other clothes on my traditional airer. Really good purchase. Only slight downside, it does not fold up to the size of a traditional no electric airer so may find it difficult to store in a hide away place.

Some reviews do mention that it works best with a cover or duvet over it, but you could alternatively buy an airer that includes a cover, like the Dry:Soon Drying Pod from Lakeland.
