It’s been 45 years since John Lennon’s life was tragically cut short at just 40.
Yet the Beatles legend’s legacy continues almost half a century on, and fans continue to be fascinated by his short but incredible life.
Daily Express recently caught up with his sister Julia Baird, who shared a mother with the singer-songwriter.
While promoting the new Live Odyssey exhibit of her brother in Camden Town, the 78-year-old unveiled that Lennon once told her when he was most happiest during his time in The Beatles.
And it turns out it was when he was comparing the Fab Four to a certain rebellious British band he was observing in 1975.
Julia told us: “John did actually come out and say, when the Sex Pistols were playing, ‘That’s who we were on the Cavern stage. I’ve never been happier than on the Cavern stage.’”
Fans will know Lennon was referring to The Cavern Club, a music venue on Mathew Street in Liverpool. Opened in 1957 as a jazz club, it soon became centred on rock and roll and would regularly host the Beatles during their early years, pre-fame. It was here that their manager, Brian Epstein, spotted them and secured a record contract for them.
