Joe Biden warned covering up for Prince Harry is 'unacceptable' as court clash looms

Prince Harry must have his day of reckoning with the American people over whether he lied on his immigration papers to be allowed to settle in the USA, an expert has said.

The self-exiled Royal is set to have his day in court tomorrow over a bid by the Heritage Foundation to force the publication of his papers to find out if he lied about previous drug use.

The issue came up after the Duke of Sussex admitted in his autobiography Spare that he had used drugs, leading to questions over why he had been allowed to get a visa to live in the US.

Nile Gardiner, Director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at Heritage and the man behind the legal challenge, is angered that Joe Biden’s administration has supported the Duke of Sussex in trying to keep his paper’s hidden from the American public.

Gardiner told Daily Express US at CPAC in Washington DC that the moment Harry committed his confessions to a book, he had lost any right to confidentiality.

He said: “The American people have a have a right to, to know, whether or not immigration laws are being enforced and applied equally without without favour, without preferential treatment.

“Harry should be treated no differently to any other person applying for a US visa. And can sue so you know, this is this is an issue of transparency and accountability.”

Gardiner said that America was founded on the principle that everyone should be equal under the law and just because someone is Royal they are not above it.

He said: “I think the American people really intensely dislike the idea that someone should be treated differently because of their social status, or some kind of nobility, or belonging to some kind of elite.

“I think that Prince Harry, in many ways represents a ruling elite that expects to be treated different. The American people want to see the law apply equally to everybody.”

Gardiner went on: “I think that the big implications from this is that it is unacceptable for the Biden administration to operate in a manner that is without any transparency and accountability.

“There are a lot of big issues surrounding this case that are fundamentally important to what the United States represents.

“If someone has lied on an African immigration application, that is a criminal offence. And so the US public have a right to to see what Harry has put on his application, especially in light of all of his revelations of, of widespread drug use in his book Spare.”
