Jimmy Tarbuck has made a shocking admission that he was involved a crash near his home.
Mr Tarbuck, 83, admitted being caught in a hit-and-run crash close to this home in southwest London in May.
The former entertainer’s incident was recorded on a resident’s Ring doorbell and showed damaged vehicles left behind by the crash.
Mr Tarbuck pleaded guilty through a letter, but did not appear at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court which heard what happened.
The court heard how the accident happened in Coombe Gardens in New Malden close to Mr Tarbuck’s house.
Mr Tarbuck pleaded guilty to failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident, and driving without due care and attention.
Mr Tarbuck was later fined £715, ordered to pay a £286 victim surcharge, and £110 in legal costs.
Prosecuting, Laura-Ann Holding said the incident happened at exactly half past three in the afternoon and said nobody was injured.
The Mail reported that she explained: “The defendant drove a vehicle without due care and attention. They collided heavily with stationary vehicles, causing severe damage and at the same time an accident occurred with another vehicle, a Vauxhall Corsa and they failed to stop when required and give their name and address.
“Multiple vehicles were hit and one was shunted forward three houses. Nobody was injured as all the vehicles were parked and empty at the time.”
Footage played to the court also showed Mr Tarbuck dragging the Vauxhall Corsa, a city car, next to his car before leaving the area.
Following the incident, Mr Tarbuck sent a letter to the court in which he apologised for what he had done.
In a statement, the Bench chair Dr Samatha Cobb said: “We have read his mitigation and the bench fully accepts he is full of remorse and is deeply apologetic.
“We accept this was utterly out of keeping with his character and we take into account he had recently lost his sister and it had been her funeral in the preceding days. He says he cannot explain why he did not stop that day.”
Mr Tarbuck was a renowned entertainer during the 20th century, with a career that spanned several decades.
