Spain is one of the top choices for UK holidaymakers and Brits will find it much easier to visit this underrated city this summer.

From summer 2025, Jet2 will provide exclusive routes from Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds Bradford Airport to a gorgeous city renowned for its wine and horses.

Between May and November British tourists will be able to get direct flights to Jerez located in the province of Cadiz and there are so many reasons as to why you shouldn’t miss out on the catching one them.

Unlike other destinations in Spain, Jerez provides beauty and a number of things to do without having to worry about the crowds of tourists.

The city welcomes hundreds of thousands of tourists annually in comparison to holiday hotspots like Seville which sees three million visitors a year and Malaga that welcomed a whopping 14.4 million in 2024 – making it a great alternative.

The incredible city offers beautiful landscapes as it lies on a central strip running from the mountains down through the countryside, just touching the coast. It is also home to must-visit tourist attractions from monuments such as the stunning catherdral and its renowned wine cellars.

Not to mention its artisitic heritage. Jerez is considered to be home of flamenco – an art form combines vocal music, dance and musical accompaniment (called cante, baile and toque) rooted fundamentally in Andalusia and other regions like Murcia and Extremadura.

Once you discover more about this city is just keeps getting better. Jerez is also the original home of the unqiue Spanish-Arabic Carthusian horse breed. Every May, the city hosts the Feria de Jerez, also known as Feria del Caballo which means Horses Fair.

The event is all about celebrating horses.

Visitors will find streets lined with bars and resturants, named Casetas. 

Jerez also boasts a number of stunning beaches. 

The city is not far from Costa de la Luz which is known for its long stretches of sands and clear waters.

The coastline features beautiful beaches including Playa la Barrosa, Bolonia and Los Canos.

Also you can find yourself in the gorgeous seaside town of El Puerto de Santa Maria, which also features a number of well known beaches.

It is just seven minutes away from Jerez on the train.
